VHF WELCOMES NEW CHAIR – GERRY MOREY

We are pleased to introduce Gerry Morey as the new Chair of Valley Hospice Foundation.

A native of Quebec, Gerry joined the RCAF studying studied History at CMR and RMC. On graduation he served as an Air Navigator specializing in Anti Submarine Warfare, Gerry flew Argus and Aurora aircraft on all three of Canada’s coasts. He also had instructor tours at the Aerospace System Course Winning and at RAF Finningley in the UK. He Commanded 405 Maritime Patrol Squadron and served as a senior staff officer on multiple tours at Maritime Air Group HQ specializing in Flight Standards, Electronic Warfare and Evaluation and Requirements on such projects as the Maritime Helicopter and the upgrade of the Aurora. He also served as a A7 at the combined NORAD/ 1 Canadian Air Division HQ with duties focused on Strategic Planning, Business Planning and Force Structure. His career included several series of education and advanced flying and staff training including Political Science studies at Dalhousie University.

Colonel Morey’s final and best tour in his 35-year RCAF career saw him command 14 Wing in Greenwood, NS.

Retiring in the Annapolis Valley wine country near Gaspereau with his wife and close to their two daughters, he embarked on a second career with L3 Communication in Halifax where he initially worked as a senior Program Manager on the Aurora program and subsequently as a Director of Business Development with a focus on international business.

Throughout his time at L3 and beyond, Gerry taught seminars on International Negotiations at the International Oceans Institute on the Dalhousie campus and served on several not-for-profit associations and charities including the Board of the Nova Scotia International Air Show Association completing multiple terms as its Chair and as Vice Chair on the Board of Chisholm Services for Children.

Completing his tenure with both of those organizations, Gerry joined the Board of the Valley Hospice Foundation in the fall of 2019, and brings this familiarity with hospice and palliative care to the role of Chair which he assumed in June 2023.
